Dynamic Relation Between Myocardial Contractility and Energy Metabolism During and Following Brief Coronary

چکیده
Changes in high-energy phosphate metabolism may be important in the regulation of myocardial contractile function during ischemia. This study sought to determine the dynamic relation between myocardial contractile function and high-energy phosphate metabolism during and following brief (24-second) coronary occlusion, when large and rapid changes in both parameters occur. Eight anesthetized, open-chest pigs were instrumented with a Doppler flow probe and occluder on the anterior descending coronary artery, segment length crystals in the anterior left ventricular wall, and a surface coil for phosphorus-31 nuclear magnetic

متن کاملEffects of repetitive brief ischemia on contractile efficiency and oxygen cost of contractility in dog heart.
It is unclear whether preceding repetitive brief ischemia causes any improvement in the energy efficiency of intracellular calcium cycling or crossbridge cycling that may lead to cardioprotection after subsequent sustained ischemia/reperfusion, a phenomenon called ischemic preconditioning. To address this issue, left ventricular (LV) contractility (E(max)) and the relation between myocardial ox...
متن کاملEffects of aortic balloon pumping during cardiopulmonary bypass on myocardial perfusion, metabolism, and contractility.
This study was undertaken to determine if the production of pulsatile flow by the intra-aortic balloon pump during cardiopulmonary bypass has any beneficial effect on coronary flow, regional myocardial flow, myocardial metabolism, and left ventricular function. Thirty-six conditioned dogs were subjected to one hour of total normothermic cardiopulmonary bypass. They were divided into the followi...

Objective: To assess the relation between myocardial viability, coronary flow reserve, and recovery of myocardial contractility after stenting for acute myocardial infarction. Design: Consecutive sample prospective study. Setting: University hospital. Patients: 41 patients with single vessel disease and successful primary stenting for a first acute myocardial infarction. Interventions: Tl singl...
متن کاملNegative inotropism of hyperthermia increases oxygen cost of contractility in canine hearts.
Heart temperature affects left ventricular (LV) function and myocardial metabolism. However, how and whether increasing heart temperature affects LV mechanoenergetics remain unclear. We designed the present study to investigate effects of increased temperature by 5 degrees C from 36 degrees C on LV contractility and energetics. We analyzed the LV contractility index (E(max)) and the relation be...
